The surroundings of Gérardmer



There are only 5 kilometres between Gérardmer lake from Xonrupt-Longemer lake. Longemer lake is wilder and ideal for basking in the sun or picnicking in the shade of the trees bordering its grassy beaches.

It will take you no more than 15 minutes by car to reach the town of La Bresse . Known in particular for its ski resort , which is very popular in winter, we appreciate its peaceful side , especially on the shores of Lac des Corbeaux and Lac de Lispach .

A few mountain roads will take you in barely 20 minutes to the highest hamlet of the Vosges, the Haut du tôt . Explore the photo trails , an open-air photographic exhibition, and stop along the way at the Bernadette Gardens . Visiting the gardens is free and the products made from their plants are of very good quality. On hot summer days, you will enjoy the freshness of the Pissoire waterfall .

La route des crêtes , by itself, is certainly the fame of the region. It marks the border between the Vosges and Alsace and leads you straight to Hohneck , the 3rd highest peak in the Vosges, perched at an altitude of 1363m. It welcomes many hikers, skiers, climbers & paragliders who come to admire the panorama . On a clear day, you will see the famous Mont Blanc in the distance. For the bravest and the most patient, you can observe the chamois , but you will have to get up at dawn to hope to cross them. All along the route you will find farm inns . With their Vosges cows , they are the true emblem of stubble. In the spring, the herds move towards the ridges, to graze there until the fall. Do not hesitate to stop to taste the marcaire meal , you will eat very well and will be greeted with the warmest of the world .

In the direction of Épinal, sheltered from the trees, hide the Tendon waterfalls . A walk of 2 km, accessible to all, will allow you to connect the large and the small waterfall . For the more courageous, an 8 km hike will allow you to go around it and admire the waterfalls from the top.
